Emergency Preparedness

The United States Sports University takes comprehensive measures to prepare for and mitigate potential emergencies. The University’s Environmental Health and Safety Committee and Risk Management Committee both play active roles in identifying, preparing for, and mitigating risks. Weather-related incidents are the most common risks faced, as the University is located along the Mobile Bay in south Alabama, an area prone to hurricanes. Consequently, the disaster recovery plan focuses heavily on preparing for and responding to weather disruptions. This plan is reviewed and updated at least annually, and emergency preparedness drills are conducted at least once per year. Additionally, many services are cloud-hosted to ensure local emergencies do not disrupt students’ academic work.

The Environmental Health and Safety Committee meets regularly to address campus safety concerns and maintain a safe environment. The committee oversees first aid and CPR training, fire safety protocols, and the Environmental Health and Safety manual. Through these proactive measures, the University strives to cultivate a culture of preparedness and prioritize the well-being of its community members.
